Geeta Johri (IPS Officer) is appointed as first Woman DGP of Gujrat.
Geeta Johri is appointed Director General of Police Gujrat (DGP) on 15 April 2016. She was 1982 batch IPS officer who was also the first IPS office women in Gujrat, Now she is also appointed as first women DGP of Gujrat.
She is been appointed after the transfer of State DGP Mr. PC Thakur who was transferred to the center as the Director General of Civil Defence and Deputation on Home Guards.
Geeta Johri :
She was also a member of Supreme Court, who was appointed as a SIT, (Special Investigation Team) under Mr. RK Raghavan (Former CBI Chief) who was successful in getting 10 most rough cases of 2002 riots.
She was also a principal of police training school in Vadodara.
She was enlightened in 1990's when she arrested gun man of underworld king of Gujrat, Abdul Latif, Raiding his house successfully but Abdul Latif escaped.
She was also appointed to the case of Sohrabuddin's brother Rubabuddin who filed a petition in the Supreme Court .
In 2006 she was also posted in CID, Criminal Investigation Department and also leaded case of fake encounter of Sohrabuddin and killing of his wife Kausar Bi.
