Maharashtra Govt. has decided to check Spurious Liquor with hologram on 20th April 2016. They officials have said that it will be mandatory for alcohol bottle to have hologram which manufactured and has to be sold in the state.
Maharashtra has decided to paste Polyester base track and trace hologram, which will be supported by Mobile App. Consumer can check whether the alcohol is genuine or not. Actually this method is applied to prevent the loss of revenue due to supply of fake alcohol from neighboring states.
Free of Cost Mobile App has been designed to to check the spurious liquor. Mobile App will show Red or Green Label to show whether the alcohol is genuine or not. If someone puts the bottle in front of app then App will show the green or red tick mark.
This will come implemented on July - August 2016. This step is taken because in year 2014-15 about 100 people died due to consuming fake alcohol. It was found in a survey that The selling quantity of bottles was found to more than 80% of the actual production. 21 states are already using this technology. Maharashtra Govt earned 18000 Crores including VAT from the Sales of Liquor. There are One Hundred and Fifty Nine liquor manufacturers are in Maharashtra. Also The cost of the Hologram sticker will be undertaken by Manufacturing Companies.
What is Hologram ??
It's a photographic technique, that operates similarly like photographs and act like three dimensional i.e. 3D images. Now a days Hologram sensors are made which when gets contacted with rays the molecules generating a fringe periodicity, which changes the color of hologram.
