DIPA KARMAKAR - FIRST WOMAN GYMNAST OF INDIA





Dipa Karmakar is now the first woman gymnast of India who qualifies for Olympics in 17 April 2016. She had booked her seat in  Rio Games after qualifying in finals. She got a total score of  52.698 points in Olympic Qualifiers to get qualified in  Artistic Gymnastics in Rio Games which is to be held in August 2016.

                           She has been listed 79th rank among individual qualifying in the list of  women's artistic gymnasts who have been qualified for Rio Olympics.

                         
About Dipa Karmakar :


She was born on August 9, 1993 in Agartala, She came under light when she made a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games which was held at Glasgow which was a history for Indian Women in the field of Gymnasts.

Dipa Karmakar is also amongst the 5 woman who have successfully attempted the very difficult Produnova vault in Competition. She also achieved bronze medals at the Asian Gymnastics and finished at fifth place at 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. It was not very easy path for her to reach this position. As she is from Tripura, this was her last chance to qualify for the Rio Olympics, She said that she had a confidence in her perfomance, but at the same time she was very nervous at the time of result. Mr. Nandi the coach of  Dipa Karmakar is the first coach to guide her in path of Gymnast. 

She is the first Indian female to win medal in 2014 Common Wealth Games. She also won a bronze medal in Asian Championships in Hiroshima. She was also ranked 5th in finals of World Championships. She said that there's still no celebration after qualifying in Rio Olympics, She is eagerly waiting for the finals,She also said that the Federation Of Gymnasts in India is not very famous and is still unrecognized. May be her qualifying can make the federation known to more.

This all had made her an inspiring youth at her age to be most successful gymnast in India.
