TOP CURRENT AFFAIRS : 23.04.2016


President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee nominated six outstanding personalities from different fields of literature, arts, sports, science and social service on the advice of government, the names which have been nominated are Mr. Subramanian Swami, Mr. Narendra Jadhav, Navjot Singh Siddhu, Suresh Gopi, Swapan Das Gupta, Mary Kom. President has a provision to nominate from 12 members from the council of Rajya Sabaha by the recommendation of Union Cabinet. The reason behind nominating these names is to represent the outstanding professionals who have done a lot in their representing fields.

Radhika Apte (Bollywood Actress) won Best Actress award for her film Madly by Tribeca Film Festival 2016. Radhika was stared in Clean Shaven in this film based on anthology. She had done may Bollywood films like Manji, Badlapur etc. in which her acting is been praised a lot.


 Mr. Prakash Javadekar has signed Paris Climate Agreement with other 174 nations. This event was hosted by UN Secretory General Mr. Ban Ki-Moon in New York. The main reason for signing this agreement was to take a step with other nations to control Global warming but cutting down Greenhouse gas emissions. India has been fighting Climatic Changes due to industrial development.The use of fuels in industries and vehicles are rising every year which in result is adversely effecting the environment.

 Mahindra and Mahindra became the First company to join Global Energy Campaign, EP100, This campaign is led by an International Group which is not profitable, known as Climatic Group. Signing this campaign company also has committed to double their energy productivity. If more companies will adopt this campaign then the global fossil fuel can be reduced by an estimated 2 trillion Euros and can create more jobs globally.

Union Government has appointed a panel to prepare a blueprint for doubling farmers income by year 2022. This panel will make a project where the production by farmers will be income based not production based like going on presently. This will be eight members panel who will gather and determine the potential areas where farmers would get more opportunities and the risk will be minimized related to farming. The government is focusing not only in increasing crops but also reducing the cultivation cost and making farmers income growth.
